Rapid DNA Technology
Portable Microdevices
Portable microdevices have been publicized as a technology that could be used in a police car or at a crime scene. While this is a long way off, there are concerns about this application. It would be imperative that police officers or crime scene technicians be properly trained in the techniques and methods used to avoid contaminating the evidence. Laboratories will likely remain the preferred venue for testing as they offer a controlled environment with skilled analysts that can testify to the technology and analysis results.
