Module 1 - Basic Population Genetics

This is the first of three modules, and addresses course learning objective number one:

Describe the basic population genetic principles that influence allele frequencies.

The module one learning objectives are:

  1. Define the Hardy Weinbuerg principle
  2. Define Hardy Weinberg Equilibrium and describe the factors that influence it
  3. Calculate allele frequencies from sample genotype data
  4. Explain the Chi-square test as it applies to HWE
Module 2 – Basic Statistical Principles

This is the second of three modules and addresses course learning objective number two:

Describe the statistical principles that govern interpretation of Genetic population data.

The module two learning objectives are:

  1. Describe the binomial, multinomial and normal distributions
  2. Describe and apply the probability of exclusion
Module 3 – Interpretation of DNA Test Results

This is the third and final module. This module addresses course learning objective three:

Apply these genetic and statistical principles to interpretation of DNA test results.

The module three learning objectives are:

  1. Describe and apply the random match probability
  2. Describe and apply the probability of exclusion
  3. Describe and apply the likelihood ratio
